For those who are looking at van life as a way to travel and see the country (as opposed to a permanent living solution), it’s important to crunch the numbers when comparing “normal” means of travel versus a modified van. We recommend contacting a travel agent for assistance. You need to factor in the total cost of travel — including airfare, transportation, and hotels. Plus, the overall cost of a trip will depend on your starting and ending points.
How much does van life cost? Good question! The average cost of a pre-owned van is anywhere from $30K–$65K. Wraps cost around $5,000, and upfits range greatly depending on what you want, but estimate anywhere from $30K–$200K in costs.. We recommend a high roof van for extra head space, but any van can be converted.

Find A Vehicle In Good Mechanical Shape

This might sound like a no-brainer, but some people choose to buy old vans in less than stellar shape. Yes, much older vans might be less expensive, but they’re priced that way for a reason.

The good news — our vehicles are safe, secure, and in the best possible condition. Our technicians rigorously inspect each vehicle, otherwise known as a 128-point certified quality inspection, before we decide whether the vehicle should join our inventory. Think About Your Electric System

What will you need to plug in? What kind of voltage do you need? Where will you get your power from? These are important questions to ask. Consider these power sources:

Solar power — Although essentially free to use, the initial setup can be expensive.
Alternator — Mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy when you’re driving. This is a must if you plan to live full-time in the van. This is probably not as important in the summer since solar power is an option, but you will need this in the winter and perhaps in the off-season.
Shore power – This is a good option if you plan on spending an extended period of time at a campground, or if you’d like to use your van in the winter.
